Meer Tonka op Den Haag FM

Vanaf zondag 8 maart heeft Radio Tonka extra zendtijd op Den Haag FM, de lokale omroep van Den Haag. De voormalige undergroundpiraat zal zes dagen in de week (zondag t/m vrijdag) van middernacht tot 03.00 uur te beluisteren zijn op 92.0 FM.

Tonka heeft jarenlang als piratenzender uitgezonden vanuit kraakpanden als het Brullend Breekijzer, Blauwe Aanslag en De Illusie. Sinds 2005 zendt Tonka legaal uit op Den Haag FM. In mei dit jaar zal Radio Tonka het 15-jarig bestaan op gepaste wijze vieren.

Alternatieve muziek
De nieuwe programma’s vormen een belangrijke aanvulling op de bestaande programmering. Tonka is sinds haar ontstaan in 1994 gericht op de underground of subcultuur van Den Haag. Dit betekent veel aandacht voor alternatieve muziek, experimentele kunst en vernieuwende cultuur. Nieuw in de uren van Tonka zijn o.a. programma's over hiphop, poëzie, geïmproviseerde muziek, breakcore en dubstep, balkanbeats, multimedia-installatiekunst, circuitbending, punk, noise en soul.

Uniek in Nederland
Met een dergelijk aanbod is Den Haag FM uniek in Nederland. Er is geen enkel vergelijkbaar legaal radiostation op de FM dat zo veel ruimte geeft aan alternatieve cultuur.

Recordings Radio Tonka programs are being recorded and will be kept online for an undetermined period of time at Uitzending Gemist.
Until we have compiled our own database of Tonka programs, here are some workarounds to to be able to play - and download - the streams from Residentie.net: Go to http://omroep.residentie.net/index.php?id=324. You can find our programs by entering the date: select saturday if you mean to look for friday midnight ... - Next, choose Tonka from the programma dropdown menu. Rightclick on the link (''speel dit programma af'') and save the MP3 file to your hard drive. Change the extension from .mp3 to .txt and open the file. Inside, you will find 2 URLs. Copy 1 of them (http://....asf) and open the location in one of your media players. If you are using VLC media player (an open source player for various platforms), you need to add -vvv at the beginning of the URL. To download the streams, use the vlc stream/save option and save to a file in asf format. Another way is to get Streambox VCR 2.0 and install it. Start Streambox Vcr 1.0 beta 31smf+ (works with most servers) and paste the URL into the left field. Select MMS (http) protocol in the file tab. Select a download location on your hard drive. In the connections tab, set the prefered bandwidth and select MMS again. Click OK to start downloading. Now you know how to rip those Windows Media Streams :)
